Why your maintenance agreements don’t renew

Customers don’t cancel agreements because of the price. They cancel because the visit never happened when it should have.

Maintenance agreements are the steadiest revenue an HVAC or plumbing company has. Yet many companies renew fewer than two-thirds of them.

The visit that slips

The pattern is almost always the same: the spring tune-up gets pushed by the first heat wave, then pushed again, and the customer hears from you next when the renewal invoice arrives.

What works

  • Schedule agreement visits into the quiet weeks before the season, all at once.
  • Protect those slots from service calls unless it’s an emergency.
  • Send the customer a reminder the day before, and a summary the day after.
